Los Gatos General Plan Update

Background Report Maps

Each of the following maps is included in the General Plan Update Background Report. Mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software are important tools throughout the General Plan Update process.  They are used to analyze, assess and present a diverse range of information, from Town land use and transportation data to geology-related hazards.

 

 

Figure 1-1 Regional Location

This map presents the location of the Town of Los Gatos within the greater Bay Area region.

 

Figure 1-2 Town Boundary and SOI

This map illustrates the municipal boundary of Los Gatos, inlcuding unincorporated county "pockets."  It also presents the location of Town Sphere of Influence.

 

Figure 2-1 2000 GP Land Use

This map presents the 2000 General Plan land use designations for parcels in the Town of Los Gatos, including commercial, office, residential, open space, public, agricultural and industrial uses within the Town boundary.

 

Figure 2-2 Existing Land Use

 This map displays the current use of each parcel of land in the Town of Los Gatos and within its Sphere of Influence.

 

Figure 3-1 Community Neighborhoods

This map displays the 14 unique neighborhoods that compose the community fabric of Los Gatos.  The map includes sub-areas of the Town's central Core Area.

 

Figure 5-1 Parks and Open Space

This map displays the location and type of all parks and open space facilities within the Town. It includes County and regional parks as well as quasi-public and private open space facilities.

 

Figure 5-2 Bikeways and Trails

This map displays the location of all existing and proposed bikeways, as well as multi-use trails within the Town.

 

Figure 12-1 Existing Lane Geometry and Traffic Control 1-20

This map illustrates traffic control and lane configuration information for 20 of the 38 Town intersections evaluated as part of the Transportation and Circulation chapter of the Background Report.

 

Figure 12-2 Existing Lane Geometry and Traffic Control 21-38

This map illustrates traffic control and lane configuration information for 18 of the 38 Town intersections evaluated as part of the Transportation and Circulation chapter of the Background Report.

 

Figure 12-3 Existing Peak Hour Turning Movement Volumes 1-20

This map presents weekday turning movement volumes for 20 of the 38 Town intersections evaluated as part of the Transportation and Circulation chapter of the Background Report.

This map presents weekday turning movement volumes for 18 of the 38 Town intersections evaluated as part of the Transportation and Circulation chapter of the Background Report.

 

Figure 15-1 Vegetation and Wildlife Habitat Types

This map illustrates coverage of major vegetation types in the Town, inlcuding woodland, shrubland, grassland and agricultural areas.

 

Figure 15-2 Special Status Plant Species

This map displays the location of habitat areas of Special Status plant species within and surrounding the Town of Los Gatos.  Special Status species include those identified as threatened or endangered.

 

Figure 15-3 Special Status Wildlife Species

This map displays the location of habitat areas of Special Status animal species within and surrounding the Town of Los Gatos.

 

Figure 16-1 Regional Faults

This map presents the position of the principle geologic faults located in the greater Bay Area region and proximal to the Town of Los Gatos.

 

Figure 16-2 Fault Rupture Hazard Zones

This map illustrates areas in and around Los Gatos with increased potential for fault rupture, or ground surface displacement, in the event of an earthquake.

 

Figure 16-3 Liquefaction Zones

This map illustrates areas in and around Los Gatos with increased potential for liquefaction, or greatly reduced soil strength, in the event of severe groundshaking.

 

Figure 16-4 Landslide Hazard Areas

This map illustrates landslide hazard areas in the Los Gatos area.  Areas of severe landslide hazard are located in the southern, hillside areas of the Town.

 

Figure 17-1 Wildland Fire Severity Zones

This map illustrates wildland fire severity zones in the Los Gatos area, as mapped by the California Department of Forestry. 

 

Figure 18-1 FEMA Flood Zones

This map displays the location of floodplains, as mapped by FEMA, in the Los Gatos area.

 

Figure 18-2 Dams and Dam Inundation Areas

This map displays the location of dams in and near Los Gatos, as well as areas of high hazard of inundation in the event of a dam failure.
